This time of year, families are celebrating many different holidays. A great way to learn about different holidays and traditions is for students to hear from their peers about the holidays and traditions they celebrate.

This activity lets students share about the holidays they celebrate. Since there are holidays celebrated year round, this activity can be done anytime!

I Celebrate… Activity

What You Need:

1 Handout per child (download here)

Markers, crayons or colored pencils

Instructions

On the handout, students will write down a holiday they celebrate and draw a picture of themselves celebrating that holiday. They will also fill out additional information about the traditions and foods they associate with that holiday.

When students have finished their handout, let students take turns sharing about their holiday with the class. Even if the majority of students have written about the same holiday, this gives each student a moment to feel seen by their peers. This helps create an environment of belonging in the classroom.
