Teachers are often the first person children look to for reassurance in difficult times. Navigating this responsibility in a time of great change can be challenging. In this training, we look at the best practices for dealing with sensitive topics such as: race, politics and culture

Faye Dunaway

Faye Dunaway

Faye Dunaway is a third grade teacher at Momentous School. She has worked in the field of education for 14 years, ten of those as classroom teacher in Dallas’ urban schools. She believes that social emotional health and mindfulness can transform urban education; this belief led her to the Momentous Institute. Faye earned her Bachelor’s of Science from Kansas State University where she majored in Psychology as well as Elementary Education with an emphasis in Special Education.

Brenda Ortega

Brenda Ortega

Brenda Ortega is a 2nd grade teacher at Momentous School. She has served students and families in South East Fort Worth for the past three years. Brenda graduated from New Mexico State University with two bachelor degrees in Bilingual Elementary Education and Spanish Linguistics. Brenda is a Teach For America and Teaching Trust Ed Fellows alumni.
