Letter From Ed

First and foremost, I hope that each of you reading this letter is well. This unprecedented time has impacted us all in different ways. I feel it is important to say, now more than ever, that it is ok to not be ok and that is not a lack of resilience, it is part of the process. This spring, COVID-19 revealed both the struggle and resilience of our city and caused Momentous Institute therapists, teachers and staff to creatively strategize how to continue services for all students and families.

I am astounded by our amazing staff who have found deep and meaningful ways to connect with children and families. Teachers are deeply connected to their students and meeting them where they are in striving to understand our current circumstances. They work through virtual lessons and are able to find the beauty in what there is to learn from this time. Therapists continue meeting with families virtually. Teletherapy is not the same and yet, it is the connection that counts. As always, our clients have demonstrated strength and resilience. Our training team is hard at work sharing out best practices to partners across the country.

The inequities that we saw before seem to only be magnified during this time. Momentous Institute, founded by the Salesmanship Club of Dallas in 1920, believes now more than ever that that all children should have equitable outcomes in education and mental wellbeing. After 100 years of service, Momentous Institute remains unwavering in our work to ensure that children in our community and beyond can reach their full potential.

The vision of Momentous Institute remains the same—to see all children have equitable opportunities for education and mental wellbeing, so that they can choose their path and find their full potential. Momentous Institute was established 100 years ago to create transformational change for children and families. Despite crises throughout history, this still holds true today. With our partners, we are ready for the next 100 years of transformation for our whole community.
