It’s time.
It’s time to put lessons learned into action.
We are stepping into a new rhythm as the world opens with lessons learned about the importance of whole health, community, equity, resilience and ACTION.
These are some of the themes I shared with children and families during the pandemic, and key messages I’m sharing with staff as I transition into my new role as executive director.
Before stepping into this exciting challenge, I worked as a bilingual clinical psychologist on our Therapeutic Services team. This involved learning from and with clients at Momentous Institute as children and families sought help for anxiety, depression, traumatic losses, isolation and relationships.
While the difficult challenges of the past year have shaped each of us, I’m also aware that the world is finding its new rhythm. I can’t wait to hear the laughter of children and sounds of learning in our school hallways again this fall. I’m ready to have more clinical group programming once again meeting at our campuses and at our partner sites. I look forward to seeing new and old friends when on-campus tours and lunch meetings resume. Given that the challenges aren’t over, we will continue to be ready to take the right next steps when required.
So, it’s time. It’s time to figure out how we collectively move forward in our work to strengthen social emotional health. Some steps will be challenging, but we are grateful we can lean on the time and talents of each of you to support this crucial work with children and families.
With hope,
Jessica Gomez, Psy.D.
