Social Emotional Health: A Classroom Game Changer

Mother Daughter Sel 101

Event Description

Do you feel like perfectly good instructional time is spent redirecting student behavior? Do you feel overwhelmed at the ever-growing needs of your students? Does your job seem to get harder every year?

A solid understanding of social emotional health is the one thing no educator can afford to ignore. This workshop will explore the basics, beginning with: what is social emotional health? We will share the latest research and easy-to-understand concepts in neuroscience that will help you understand what is happening in students’ brains and how you can use that information to enhance learning. You will walk away with simple, tangible strategies that you can implement immediately. Strategies include:

  • How to help children calm themselves when upset or in conflict with a peer
  • How to reduce stress in the classroom (for students and teachers)
  • How to help students get along better with their peers and teachers
  • How to give students a basic understanding of their brain

Research shows a strong correlation between social emotional health and academics. Learn how you can improve student outcomes, manage classroom behavior and increase engagement.

This workshop is designed for teachers, school and district administrators, school counselors, paraprofessionals, and others who interact with students in an academic setting.
