Trauma and Kids: Help Me Understand

Seh Trainings

Teachers report experiencing more challenging behaviors in their classrooms than ever before. Many are worried that their students just don’t seem to care about learning. Much of that behavior can be attributed to the stress that children feel as a result of traumatic events and adverse experiences. While the impact of trauma is not always visible, its effects are far reaching and have serious consequences.

You’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of traumatic events commonly experienced by children and their impact on children’s developing brains and behaviors. Educators are uniquely positioned to develop supportive and caring relationships with students. Such relationships are essential to the success of children impacted by trauma. Participants will learn and practice strategies to build, reinforce, or repair relationships with and between their students.

This session will equip teachers and administrators to adopt a trauma-informed, relationship-driven approach in schools that will help children feel safe, connected, and ready to learn.
