We believe that all parents truly want the best for their children and have high hopes and dreams for their futures. Often, because of the stressors of daily life, we can easily lose sight of the long game. Writing a vision statement helps parents crystalize those hopes and dreams in a way that is tangible. Parents think about the adult that they hope their child will become. As we walk parents through the process of writing the vision statement, we provide a template with prompting questions. We let parents know they are welcome to use the template to guide their thinking, or they are free to write their vision statement in a way that makes the most sense to them. The vision statements are posted in the classroom for the school year and a copy is placed in the front of the child’s portfolio. The vision statement is everyone’s road map. If things begin to go off-track during the school year, revisiting the vision statement is a way to refocus everyone on the big picture. We help parents understand that everything we do today, is leading the child to becoming a successful adult.

Watch this video to learn more about the impact that vision statements have on our school. We encourage all schools to incorporate something like this into the back-to-school routine. It has made a huge difference to our families, as you can see in this video!
