The Halloween season is here which means pumpkins, costumes and trick-or-treating. To celebrate the Halloween season, we've created a fun way for kids to learn about kindness. This is a social emotional learning take on trick-or-treat: No Tricks, Only Treats of Kindness.
Kindness can be expressed in many ways through words and actions, and practicing kindness allows children to develop kindness as a skill. This activity is designed to help children practice kindness with intention.
No Tricks, Just Treats of Kindness Activity
What You Need:
1 Handout per child (download here)
Markers, crayons or colored pencils
Instructions
On the handout, children will see that each candy in their ‘trick-or-treat’ bag has an act of kindness written on it. When a child completes one of the acts of kindness, they color in the candy in their bag. They repeat this until all of the candies have been colored in.
Kindness is often a choice. Giving children the opportunity to be intentionally kind allows them to understand that being kind is a choice that they should want to make.
