As a kid, Jordan Spieth was a regular customer of the Byron Nelson golf tournament.

He went to great lengths to follow his favorite golfers around the TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas. He was fortunate enough to nab the autograph of his hero, 2008 champion Adam Scott.

He also shares many of the characteristics that made Nelson such a remarkable ambassador of the game. Nelson's tournament has raised almost $150 million for charity, spawning the Salesmanship Club's Momentous Institute.

The Salesmanship Club Charitable Golf of Dallas recently announced the 2016 AT&T Byron Nelson raised $5.8 million in net proceeds for its beneficiary Momentous Institute. The Salesmanship Club of Dallas has owned and operated Momentous Institute since 1920 and began operating the PGA TOUR event in 1968. The tournament has raised more than $149 million for Momentous Institute to date.

Pilot program brings Social, Emotional Learning techniques to Dallas schools

Teachers receive Social Emotional Health training through Dallas ISD’s partner Momentous Institute.

Tina Robertson is the non-profit’s director of clinical training.

”We want kids to be leaders," Roberts said. "So, part of that is understanding how to get along with others in their environment. How to take these strategies home and really use them in their home environment.”
