Teaching from Home Strategy: Stretch it Out
Kids are currently spending more time on screens than they normally would in a classroom. Today’s strategy looks at ways to get them up and moving.
As students transition to school at home, they may be spending more time on screens than they typically would during a school day. And while that may be unavoidable, there are ways to get kids moving, even through the screen. This start with you!
During morning meeting or virtual lessons, build in opportunities for movement. Consider yoga breaks, stretches or even dance parties! Play a song and ask students to get up and move. Remember to make it fun!
After high-energy movement, it’s a good idea to do mindful breathing to calm the group down before jumping back into learning.
