Ways to Give. Ways to Make an Impact.

Giving Guide

There are many ways to support Momentous Institute, from making a one-time or monthly donation to giving in-kind gifts or volunteering your time. Every contribution helps provide mental health services, education, and support for children and families. Make your gift today to be a partner in building a world of emotionally thriving people.

Annual and Monthly Giving

Annual or monthly giving to support the general operations of Momentous Institute ensures that our work continues to serve children and families across the globe.

The Momentous Institute model is unique in the North Texas region, providing comprehensive direct services that focus on the whole child in the classroom and tailored mental health support to individual child clients, along with strong family involvement. Our decades of leadership in mental health, specifically the treatment of complex trauma, inform our educational programming, as well as training and research.

In-Kind Gifts

An In-Kind donation is a non-cash gift—such as goods, services, time, or expertise—given to a nonprofit by individuals or organizations.

At Momentous Institute, In-Kind donations support Momentous School and our Mental Health Services.

In 2024, generous donors provided:

  • A passenger van and a pick-up truck for client transport and camp needs
  • Books for the school library
  • Weighted stuffed animals and board games for therapy and classrooms
  • 183 volunteer hours for support tasks
  • 200 annual Reading Buddies, each reading weekly with K–5 students

Other Ways to Give

  • Do you have a Family Foundation that prioritizes education or mental health? Or perhaps you know of a Family Foundation that focuses on these priority pillars. Each year, Momentous Institute receives gifts and grants from more than 40 Family Foundations across the country. If you, or a member of a foundation board are interested in learning more about Momentous Institute, we would welcome the opportunity for a conversation and/or tour.

For more information about giving through a Family Foundation, contact Tania Loenneker, Associate Director of Development, at [email protected] or 214.915.4758.

  • The Internal Revenue Service allows IRA owners age 70½ or over to transfer up to $100,000 to a charitable organization like Momentous Institute tax-free each year. Normally, distributions from a traditional IRA are taxable when received. However, when the distribution is made directly from the IRA to an eligible charity it becomes tax-free.

For more information on direct IRA transfers to benefit Momentous Institute, contact your financial advisor or Robin Doeden, Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships, at [email protected] or 214.915.4763.

  • The federal tax code allows you to contribute long-term appreciated securities (that is, those held at least one year) – such as stocks, bonds and mutual fund shares – directly to a charity without paying capital gains tax on the appreciated value, as you would if you sold it first and then contributed cash to the charity.

And, when you add up your itemized tax deductions for the year, you can generally deduct the fair market value of the long-term security at the time of the donation, not the lower amount you paid for it originally. (Source: Fidelity)

  • Giving through a donor-advised fund (DAF) allows time to develop a philanthropic vision. You can typically fund your DAF with a variety of options, including cash, stocks, real estate, or other assets, and you will receive an immediate tax deduction. You can then tailor your philanthropic efforts to meet your goals over time by recommending grants to virtually any IRS-qualified public charity from the funds in your DAF.
