Who doesn’t love a classic show and tell? It’s fun to share something you love with friends. A nature show and tell takes that fun outside. In this simple activity, children can explore nature and still leave the treasures they find in their natural environment.

What You Need

  • Marking flags or other markers that students can stick into the ground.
  • Timer

What to Prepare

  • Write each student’s name on a marking flag.
  • Choose an outdoor location such as a school playground, park or nature trail.

What to Do

Give each student a marking flag with their name on it. Instruct students to find something interesting to share with the class and place their marking flag in the ground next to it. Set a timer for five minutes and create a signal to alert them to return.

Once all students have placed their flags, walk around to each marker as a group. At their marker, have each student share what they found and why they thought it was interesting.
